FAQ

Who is responsible for DirtyFeet decision making?

DirtyFeet is driven by Anthea Doropoulos and Sarah Fiddaman, who are primarily volunteers (apart from funded projects).

DirtyFeet has a Board of Directors who meet regularly to guide the artistic, strategic and business decisions of the company.
The 2012 board includes Bec Dean (Chair), Martin Del Amo (Artistic Committee), Sarah-Vyne Vassallo (Artistic Committee), Arthur Koumoukelis (Business/Law), Jon Cheung (Law), Michael Doropoulos (Finance), Matthew Mearns (Business/Marketing), Anthea Doropoulos and Sarah Fiddaman.

How has DirtyFeet survived until now?

DirtyFeet largely survives because of the support from artists and the community. Many artists and other individuals have volunteered their time or offered their services in-kind or at a heavily reduced rate because of their belief in the validity and necessity of DirtyFeet in Sydney.

Where does my “DirtyFeeter” annual supporter money or my donation go?

Donations to DirtyFeet contribute to the artistic program of the company including the Choreographic Lab, Community Outreach and Productions. These programs support the growth of independent artists at different stages of their careers and create opportunities for community participation in the arts. DirtyFeet also incurs substantial ongoing costs including website maintenance, domain name, legal fees, public liability insurance, photography, graphic design, office supplies.

How does DirtyFeet choose dancers?

Dancers apply to DirtyFeet for various projects, usually responding to a “call out” for dancers publicised through networks such as Ausdance NSW. DirtyFeet tries to provide opportunities for as many artists as possible through the Choreographic Lab. Choreographers can nominate dancers they would like to work with but often allow DirtyFeet to assign dancers to their projects.

In the case of Productions or other paid employment, choreographers usually choose dancers themselves from the DirtyFeet network. DirtyFeet will often make recommendations about dancers from the network who they believe to have the right qualities for the role or who have proven skills in commitment/reliability/work ethic/creativity- especially in the case where the choreographer does not know any of the dancers.

All DirtyFeet dancers are part of the DirtyFeeters network.
