Anja Mujic

Anja Mujic graduated from Newtown High School of the Performing Arts in 2008 with distinctions in dance, music and drama, and has since continued to study and work as an artist, particularly developing her interest in the dance/music collaborative relationship.

As a dancer, Anja graduated in 2009 with a Certificate IV in Contemporary/Classical dance from Ev & Bow Full Time Dance Training Centre, led by internationally renowned choreographer Sarah Boulter. In this time she performed with the in-house company, winning prizes at the Sydney Eisteddfod and presenting work at the 3rd CARNIVAL Choreographic Ball in Sydney.

Since 2010, Anja has participated in workshops, masterclasses and secondments internationally with the likes of Hofesh Shechter Co, NDT II, Budapest Dance Theatre, Cie. Audie Linga and Scottish Dance Theatre, and nationally with Australian Dance Theatre, Chunky Move, Tasdance, Dancenorth, and Critical Path.

In 2011, Anja worked with Musical Theatre choreographer Veronica Beattie for the Sydney Festival, continued work with choreographer Olivia Ansell for the Showtime Department at Luna Park Sydney, and was a finalist in FORM Dance Projects Fast+Fresh 2011 Choreographic Dance Competition with her first solo work ‘Melodies and Desires”. She has been a member of Dirtyfeet Dance Collective since 2011, participating in choreographic labs with artists such as Emeline Forster, Leeke Griffin, Kristina Chan, Sue Healy, Jodie McNielly and Martin Del Amo, and in 2012 she danced with youMove Company led by Artistic Director Kay Armstrong, working with established NSW choreographers Kay Armstrong, Anton and Narelle Benjamin and performing in a variety of different platforms including Sydney Festival, Site and Sound Festival for Leichhardt Council, FORM Dance Projects Choreographic Series and Campbelltown Arts Centre Student Series.

In 2012, Anja was a dancer for choreographers Sandra Goode and Tamara Argall in their works; “With or Without: Self Aside” and “What Was”, respectively, and also performed in Jodie McNielly’s sight specific responsive piece “Atmosphere’s of Rest” for the Newtown NIGHTIME: TWILIGHT program.

As a musician, Anja began her earliest piano studies with Slobodan Zivkovic, receiving her Associate Diploma in Piano Performance from the Australian Music Examinations Board in 2010. In 2013 she graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Studies in Classical Piano Performance with a First Class Honours, in which time she studied with Nikolai Evrov, Dr Bernadette Harvey, Phillip Shovk, and participated in masterclasses with distinguished artists such as Natalia Sheludiakova, Gerard Willems and Daniel Herskovitch. She has worked with many emerging composers, developing and premiering their works in venues such as the Verbrugghen Hall and the University of Sydney. She has also taught piano and music theory to children throughout schools across Sydney.
