Michael Whaites

Michael Whaites has worked as a Dancer, Performer, Choreographer, Teacher and Director in the Dance industry for over 22 years. He was a founding member of Dance North and worked with the Australian Dance Theatre under the direction of Leigh Warren. He worked with Twlya Tharp and Mikhail Baryshnikov whilst living in New York. Moving to Europe in the mid-nineties, Michael worked with Pina Bausch until 2000 when he return to Australia to freelance. Michael has taught at numerous universities and schools throughout the world. He has been commissioned to create works  for In The Company of Men, New York,  Leigh Warren and Dancers, Adelaide and The One Extra Dance Company, Sydney. Michael is currently a lecturer in Contemporary Dance and is the Artistic Director of LINK Dance Company which is based at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
